Interview with Yasmin Soferi

Author of Emotional Banking For Kids

Emotional Banking For Kids

Where are you from originally and where do you reside now?

I am originally from Los Angeles, California and currently reside in Encino with my family.

If you currently reside somewhere besides where you were born, what’s the story that lead from there to here?

I was born in and currently in Los Angeles.

What made you decide to write and publish your first book?

What made me write my first book was my inspirational life coach Mrs. Brooks. She gave me the opportunity to write a book with her.

How would you describe your books to first time readers?

I would describe my book as empowering young children, showing them the importance of self-love, and loving others. My book is helpful and useful for all ages. My book teaches about forgiveness, self-esteem management, empathy, mindfulness and is overall an amazing book.

Who do you feel is most likely to connect with the topics you write about?

I feel that anyone can connect with my book because it is about skills that anyone can use at any time.

What unexpected or surprising thing did you learn during the process of writing and publishing?

I learned that writing a book at such a young age was a gift and so amazing. I was nine when this book came out.

If you could, what advice would you give to past self yourself before embarking on this journey?

Advice that I would give my past self is to be calm, confident, and enjoy the process of embarking this journey.

How many people would you ideally like to reach with your books?

I would ideally like everyone to learn from my book, especially my community.

What has been the biggest challenge and frustration during the process to date?

One challenge I faced was writing this while in school. Trying to manage both at the same time was a bit challenging for me.

What’s your biggest strengths when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?

I think that my biggest strength in writing a book is that I have a simple way of putting my ideas into words. I enjoyed speaking and promoting my book to people, especially when I was interviewed by Brad Pomerance for Time Warner Cable and Lisa Sigell in the segment for Acts of Human Kindness. Thankfully I had Mrs. Brooks when it came to publishing the book.

What’s your biggest weakness when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?

My biggest weakness when it comes to book writing is to be more open-minded, creative, and have a wider thought process, which I am working on. I would like to work on publishing my next book on my own since my first book was published with the help of Mrs. Brooks. As for marketing, I would like to increase my education in marketing skills.

When do you think you will you write your next book?

I will probably write my next book in a few years.

Are you self published or did you use a hybrid publisher, or a traditional publisher?

Since we wrote the book together, Mrs. Brooks helped with the publication of “Emotional Banking For Kids.” For my future book, I plan on self-publishing it.
