Interview with Pablo Ruiz
Author of El Libro Prohibido: “Las Grandes Mentiras de la Humanidad” – (The Forbidden Book – “The Big Lies of Humanity”)
Where are you from originally and where do you reside now?
I am from and currently live in Spain.
What made you decide to write and publish your first book?
Initially, I wrote a book giving property advice to help my real estate clients. There was an unprecedented real estate market crisis in Spain and having created an international consultancy, I decided to write a book designed for clients and giving them away as a gift. It was such a success that a published wanted me to write about other subjects.
How would you describe your books to first time readers?
They are designed for everyone!
Maybe with more emphasis on a special type of person, someone who is aware of their environment and wants more out of life. My readers are those who investigate, think and reason to contemplate different possibilities and ideas drawing up their own individual conclusions.
Who do you feel is most likely to connect with the topics you write about?
I write about what I want to know. In essence I am note taking to myself, only I have made it available for someone else to read. As what I write about is also about what I like to read, I would expect someone who also shares the same topic interest passion as me also be my most likely reader.
What unexpected or surprising thing did you learn during the process of writing and publishing?
I learned that after all, what I wondered about is also what others are wondering. Writing and publishing are two very different things.
If you could, what advice would you give to past self yourself before embarking on this journey?
You have to ask yourself first, “what is my reason for writing?”
How many people would you ideally like to reach with your books?
Millions.
What has been the biggest challenge and frustration during the process to date?
Publishing. I have contacted many different publishers but the next best thing in publishing I have found is self-publishing.
What’s your biggest strengths when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?
Find a reason for writing and make a clear plan, it does not matter how long it takes, but once completed then execute the plan. This way you will never have writers block. Technology now allows you to seriously consider self-publishing an option.
What’s your biggest weakness when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?
I have yet to find a reliable, honest international publishing company, I am still looking.
When do you think you will you write your next book?
Most likely within a year.
Are you self published or did you use a hybrid publisher, or a traditional publisher?
I have tried almost every formula. I’m not a big fan of publishing companies.
