Interview with Leonora Miller
Author of be the Change – A 30-day Journey towards a new YOU
Where are you from originally and where do you reside now?
I was raised in Gloucester Township, NJ and now reside in New Castle, Delaware.
If you currently reside somewhere besides where you were born, what’s the story that lead from there to here?
I joined a church in Delaware and latter became an active leader which resulting in frequent trips to Delaware. After the passing of my parents I determined it was more feasible to relocate the family to Delaware.
What made you decide to write and publish your first book?
Through consulting I learned that the current state of various projects would be different if people clearly understood the expectations, established boundaries and processes before jumping into the ocean. The first book I wrote was entitled Hellraisers in the Church. It was written to raise awareness and tools to parishioners and ministry leaders.
In 2018, a recognition that turned into a t-shirt idea would launch a movement that would catapult me to inspire others to make a change in their life, family and community. After facilitating a successful workshop I decided to publish, “be the Change – A 30-day journey towards a new YOU to guide the reader to make a positive change and celebrate their journey.
How would you describe your books to first time readers?
My books are geared to inspire others to learn from my life experiences, provide some guidance and cause the reader to take an action.
Who do you feel is most likely to connect with the topics you write about?
I believe my books resonates with various individuals who have experienced personal or professional challenges that caused them to question the purpose for their life. In addition, if they have been judgmental of others it will give them different lenses to view the situation and show empathy.
What unexpected or surprising thing did you learn during the process of writing and publishing?
I had previously worked with other self-published authors on their projects and was familiar with the process.
How many people would you ideally like to reach with your books?
I would like to reach over 2.5 million people across the world including school-age children.
What has been the biggest challenge and frustration during the process to date?
The biggest challenge has been extending into markets that will produce regularly revenue.
What’s your biggest strengths when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?
My biggest strength in writing is the ability to share realistic stories that resonate with people that positively inspires them to act
What’s your biggest weakness when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?
My biggest weakness would be striking the right balance with marketing campaigns.
When do you think you will write your next book?
My goal is to write my next book in a couple of years.
Are you self published or did you use a hybrid publisher, or a traditional publisher?
Self-Published.
