Author of Death-Talk Silence
Where are you from originally and where do you reside now?
I was born in Corydon, Indiana but live in Evansville,Indiana now.
If you currently reside somewhere besides where you were born, what’s the story that lead from there to here?
My husband’s job brought me here.
What made you decide to write and publish your first book?
I loved to read as an adolescent and started my first book as a teen. I pout it on the shelf for several years but decided to finish and publish it as part of my bucket list.
How would you describe your books to first time readers?
My books are eclectic, ranging from a realistic, historical, dramatic YA novel to a contemporary, paranormal work.
Who do you feel is most likely to connect with the topics you write about?
My books are written for young adults, but I think some adults will like them too.
What unexpected or surprising thing did you learn during the process of writing and publishing?
I learned from Stephen King that adverbs are bad.
If you could, what advice would you give to past self yourself before embarking on this journey?
I would advise myself to read more and to ignore the naysayers.
How many people would you ideally like to reach with your books?
As many as possible.
What has been the biggest challenge and frustration during the process to date?
Not having more time to write.
What’s your biggest strengths when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?
My biggest strength when it comes to writing is making my characters and dialogue believable. Still working on developing my strengths with the other two.
What’s your biggest weakness when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?
With writing, taking too long to finish a novel. As for publishing, being too quick to submit my work, and for marketing, not knowing the best ways to do it.
When do you think you will you write your next book?
I am working on it now and only a few chapters away from completing the first draft.
Are you self published or did you use a hybrid publisher, or a traditional publisher?
Self
