At Last (Redemption Brothers MC Book 4)

Where are you from originally and where do you reside now?

I was born and raised in White County Arkansas which is where I currently reside with my husband and daughter.

What made you decide to write and publish your first book?

I had this story buzzing in my head about two high school sweethearts, Jessica and Declin. They were constantly talking in my head and telling me all about themselves. I would tell my husband all about them. The more I told him about their story, the more I wanted to put it to paper. I began writing Coming Home in 2015. I finished the book towards the middle of 2016. I kept it on my computer and my husband is the one who encouraged me to self publish after I read and reread the story every month or so.

How would you describe your books to first time readers?

It is a story of reconnection and reconciliation. Young lovers get a second chance to reconnect with a long lost love and realize that there are 2 sides to every story. Finding the person they love and loves them in return helps overcome the past.

Who do you feel is most likely to connect with the topics you write about?

Anyone who has enjoys reading about a family love story. If you want to follow generations of the Maoln Family as they each get their own love story. You will get all kinds of different situations, careers, and even a few surprises along the way.

What unexpected or surprising thing did you learn during the process of writing and publishing?

I learned that I am not in control of the story. As much as I think it is ‘my story’ and things are going to go as planned, I assure you that they do not! I had several moments where I was listening to my muse and then I would write something that shocked me. I turned to my husband several times and was like, “Do you know what just happened?” He got a couple of good laughs at me.

If you could, what advice would you give to your past self before embarking on this journey?

There is no deadline and you are not Superwoman. It is so easy to get caught up in all the big things, but slow down and enjoy the process and all the little things that makes these projects fun for you.

How many people would you ideally like to reach with your books?

If I reach 1 person that loves any or all of my books then I will be happy. If that number grown to 10, 20, or even 100 then that is great. If I hear that 1 person enjoys it then I will be ecstatic.

What has been the biggest challenge and frustration during the process to date?

Writer’s block! I still have a book that I haven’t been able to touch in almost a year. I have been so frustrated about it. Everytime I open that Word document I have this overwhelming urge to just cry. The biggest problem is that the main character has been one of my favorite people in my books. Not being able to get his story out has been so upsetting for me.

What’s your biggest strengths when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?

I am definitely better at the writing than anything else. Give me a blank page over publishing and marketing jobs for sure!

What’s your biggest weakness when it comes to book a) writing, b) publishing and c) marketing?

Marketing is my weakness. I always feel as if I am being that pushy Avon saleslady. I also think that another weakness is not taking the un-enjoyable aspects about the process and getting in there and doing it anyway. If I am not comfortable doing something, I tend to just bury my head in the sand and act like those things are not there to be done.

When do you think you will write your next book?

I actually have one that I have completed the writing part on just a month or so ago. I set it aside for a couple months to give me a fresh set of eyes when I look at it before it goes into the extensive editing process. I am hoping to have it out by February.

Are you self published or did you use a hybrid publisher, or a traditional publisher?

I am completely self published.
